Volunteer Opportunity

On January 6th Centro will be hosting our 3rd annual Dia de los Tres Reyes Magos at Dixon Middle School in Provo from 6:30-8:30 pm.

We are looking for hard-working volunteers to help this evening. Set up will begin at 4:30 pm and we would need help throughout the event including clean up.

Volunteer of the Month for November/ Voluntario del Mes de Noviembre

Agustin Torres is our volunteer of the month for November.
A UVU student and a local from Provo UT, Agustin is studying Aivation Science.
He has enjoyed helping us out and we congratulate him.

Electricty Class/ Clase de Electricdad

This last Tuesday we had out electricity class graduation. Thus far this has been our biggest graduating class, 20 students. In that group we had 3 families complete the course together. We had 4 young adults (13-19) and we had 1 our youngest students ever, he was 13 years old. This was such a monumental achievement for our 7th graduating class. Congratulations to all of you for finishing the 10 week course. 

El pasado martes,la graduación de la clase de electricidad se llevo a cabo. Esta fue nuestra clase mas grande, con 20 graduados. Incluyendo 3 familias, 4 jovenes (13-19) y el estudiante mas joven en las historia de esta clase.
Este fue un logro monumental para nuestra clase. Felicitaciones a todos ustedes por terminar el curso de 10 semanas.

Volunteer Opportunity

"I can't cook a Thanksgiving dinner. All I can make is cold cereal and maybe toast."-Charlie Brown

We need volunteers to help out on November 19th on Farmer Workers Appreciation Day hosted by Centro de la Familia from 5:30-8:00pm. This opportunity will be taking place in Genola (west of Santaquin). This is a really important event, this event will provide dinner to all the farm workers and a chance for the kids to decorate Thanksgiving cookies and even break open a pinata. So if you have some time on Friday or a lot of time please join Centro de la Familia as they host a great feast at 352 E 800 S in Genola. 

Super Friday! December 3

SUPER FRIDAY- December 3 10:30-2:00pm (tentative)

We are going to have a variety of workshops this day so that if you missed one at some point you can come and catch up. Make sure to bring some supplies like spare organza to make beautiful flower hairpins. If you're into knitting or crocheting bring some supplies and learn how to make those cute knitted flower headbands. If you're into scrap booking come to our class learn advance techniques or start your first scrapbook. We will also have someone teaching basic jewelry skills so bring old jewelry that you want to make look new or bring some supplies and create a new necklace or pair of earrings.

Vamos a tener una variedad de talleres este día, para aquellos que no pudieron llegar. Asegúrese de traer algunos materiales, por ejemplo, el tul para ser flores.  Si usted le gusta tejer o crochete puede aprender a hacer las diademas para la cabeza que tienen flores.  Puede tambien aprender hacer tarjetas para Navidad.  También vamos a aprender lo básico de armar joyería.

October Volunteer of the Month/ Voluntario del mes

Aaron Hart has been volunteering with Centro Hispano for a couple of months now. He helps with our computer class and does an amazing job. Having already received two certificates for volunteering with us, we figured it was time to make him our first Volunteer of the Month on our brand new blog. 
Aaron is currently interviewing for medical school and we wish him the best of luck as he pursues his educational goals.

Aaron Hart ha sido un gran voluntario con Centro Hispano por los ultimos meses. Él ayuda con nuestra clase de computación y hace un trabajo increíble. Después de haber recibido dos certificados por ser voluntario con nosotros, nos dimos cuenta que era tiempo de dar le el titlo de Voluntario del Mes (Octubre) en nuestra nueva blog.
Aaron actualmente esta entrevistando para la escuela de medicina y le deseamos lo mejor mientras persigue sus metas educativas.
